This is a portrait of two of the world's best youth boxers, Meryland Gonzalez and Steven Navarro. These two world class athletes fight in-and-out of the ring with dreams of a better future for their communities.

​

The inspiration behind the piece came from a saying that Meryland's dad, Jorge

calls her which is, "Concrete Rose"—meaning that she is an image of hope, resilience, and beauty, emerging from a tough area. We hope Meryland and Steven's stories not only inspires kids to take pride in their home, but also encourages them to fight for a better future for their communities.
